Strain Description

Are you ready to enjoy two of the most cherished, award-winning cannabis strains of all time…combined into one strain?

Savvy growers answer YES! And now you can grow our Kali Bubba to get an unparalleled combination of Sativa-dominant genetics, heavy harvests, and a powerful multi-layered high.

Legendary Origin Strains

To understand how special Kali Bubba is, first consider its two legendary origin strains, starting with Kali Mist, the “Queen of Sativas” famous for its cerebral, psychedelic, startling high.

Kali Mist contains rare landrace Sativa genetics from Cambodia, other Asian countries, and Latin America. We debuted Kali Mist in the early 1990s. It immediately won first-place at High Times Cannabis Cup events in Amsterdam, and has continued to win cannabis competitions across Europe, the UK, and North America.

The other prize-winning strain embedded in Kali Bubba is Bubble Gum. We released Bubble Gum in 1994. It quickly became top choice in Dutch cannabis shops and won High Times Cannabis Cup awards and other awards at cannabis competitions in Europe and North America.

Bubble Gum’s popularity is partly because it smells exactly like old-school bubble gum, and delivers heavy yields with a powerful, balanced mind-body high that’s euphoric and calming at the same time.

Although some people claim Bubble Gum strain was bred from “unknown genetics that came from a grower in Indiana,” genetic analysts describe the strain as a combination of Colombian, Oaxacan, and Afghani genetics.

Bubble Gum finishes faster than Kali Mist, is an inbred line (which means it has remarkable phenotype consistency), is easy to grow, and produces large, fat, resinous buds.

Serious Seeds Breeding Program

At Serious Seeds, we don’t release multiple new strains every year just to maintain market inventory. Instead, we work on complicated breeding projects to produce unicorn strains worthy of being on our menu.

We’ve long been intrigued by the challenge of combining the best traits from Kali Mist and Bubble Gum into one stellar strain. The good news is—we succeeded! After years of breeding with elite cuts and pollen, we crafted Kali Bubba.

Now let’s take a look at the benefits you get growing and using Kali Bubba...

Cultivating Kali Bubba

We started the Kali Bubba breeding project after analyzing grower feedback on Kali Mist and Bubble Gum. Growers love both strains, but had a wish list of minor changes.

For example, Kali Mist can have a very long bloom phase, as most pure Sativas do, and its buds are narrower diameter than buds from hybrids and Indicas.

Another interesting fact is that Kali Mist effects are 95% cognitive and creative, with very few if any body effects. Some people can’t handle that much stimulation, or they want body effects for medical reasons.

Bubble Gum is an inbred-line, Sativa-dominant strain with mostly uplifting, euphoric effects, but the minority presence of Afghani genetics makes its buds much thicker and heavier, and the high includes relaxing, pain-relieving body effects.

Growers wanted us to shorten the Kali Mist bloom phase and increase its harvest weight. They wanted Bubble Gum’s heavy yields, but without the gray mold (botrytis) risk that is almost automatic with thick, resinous buds even when grow room humidity is below 55%.

Knowing what growers love and don’t love about the two origin strains, we carefully selected traits during the lengthy breeding program for Kali Bubba.

Our goals were to retain the philosophical, stimulating Kali Mist high, add Bubble Gum’s euphoric mind and body high, increase yield, rein in bloom phase duration, and give you fat, huge buds resistant to botrytis.

Our breeding program was painstakingly difficult, but we succeeded. Kali Bubba gives you substantial, resinous buds that have just enough aeration to resist gray mold.

About a month into bloom phase, Kali Bubba buds are fat and round, consisting mostly of white hairs.

Then, around weeks 5-6 of bloom phase, the buds suddenly start adding layers of resin glands. Scents of pepper, sweet fruit, candy, and skunk emanate. With an average total bloom phase of only 60-65 days, you harvest an average of 155 grams or more of dried bud per indoor plant.

Growers affirm that as with all of our seed strains, you get 100% germination rate and no hermaphroditism.

What’s more, Kali Bubba seeds grow out to be sturdy plants that don’t need much if any training, staking, trellising or other supports.

Kali Bubba has the usual Sativa bloom phase stretch, typically tripling in height during bloom phase, so plants should be given only 2-3 weeks in grow phase, and should be put into bloom phase when they have 3-5 sets of true leaves and sufficient root mass. Closely calculate the vertical space in your garden, so your plants don’t get so tall that they’re too close to grow lights.

Outdoors you don’t have worries about height, and in a very sunny, semi-tropical, warm garden, Kali Bubba can grow three meters tall or taller. The height won’t be wasted. Long, heavy colas form, and we’ve seen growers get nearly a kilo of dried bud per plant from outdoor Kali Bubba.

Indoors, you do best by giving your plants high-PPFD lighting, slightly warmer than average grow room temperatures, good air exchange and air movement, relative humidity between 51-59%, superior hydroponic or organic nutrients, and a well-aerated, large root zone.

You’ll discover that we’ve installed exceptional resilience and adaptability into Kali Bubba.

This is especially useful because many Sativa-dominant and pure Sativa strains are overly sensitive to problems with overwatering, overfeeding, and root zone pH issues.

Our Bubble Gum never had those problems and is a heavy feeder, and we’re happy that Kali Bubba includes Bubble Gum’s resilience. It handles a moderately-heavy feed program, but be careful not to overload phosphorus and potassium via bloom boosters.

And because Kali Bubba adds the majority of its bud bulk and resins during the last half of bloom phase, don’t use the flushing method that deprives plants of nutrition during their last week of life. Keep feeding them right up until harvest date.

Harvest Timing for Kali Bubba

Growers enjoy Kali Bubba because Internode spacing is tight, branches are sturdy, phenotype consistency is high, pre-flowering shows quickly, and female to male ratio is favorable (Kali Bubba is only available as regular, not feminized, photoperiod seeds).

We stipulate a nine week bloom phase, but also recommend incremental harvesting that’s based on close examination of resin gland condition.

With Kali Bubba, incremental harvesting means you cut, dry, cure and test a bud or two around 49 days into bloom, and then every 2-5 days thereafter.

Clear, small, stalked resin glands are an indication of peak bloom. You often see a percentage of Kali Bubba resin glands beginning to turn cloudy or even amber by day 53.

By days 62-65 with healthy plants, the buds are ready harvest, even if resin glands are still clear. But feel free to experiment with clear resin gland plants by letting some of the buds go longer than 63-65 days, testing the high the late-harvest buds give you.

One of the interesting facets of harvest timing and cannabinoid/terpenoid production for Kali Bubba and its precursor Kali Mist is that letting bloom phase go on “too long” doesn’t necessarily result in a heavier, more sedating high as happens with hybrid strains.

Instead, the high remains Sativa and stimulating, but becomes more complex and potent.

Growers who’ve cultivated Kali Bubba in professional grow rooms, competing it with a variety of other strains, say it’s very resistant to pests and diseases, tolerates grower mistakes, and is generally easier to grow than balanced hybrids or other Sativa strains.

One licensed professional grower told us that in a grow room with nine other strains electricity outages and water quality problems made the season far less than ideal, Kali Bubba handled the problems best.

While other strains showed signs of stress including leaf tip burn, curling leaves, slow growth and slow floral maturation, Kali Bubba ran like a racehorse.

Exploring the Kali Bubba High

The Kali Bubba high is a sweet balance of body and mind effects you can’t get from any other cannabis strain, and the vapor from these buds is smooth, tasty, and fast-acting.

If you’re intimately familiar with consuming Kali Mist and Bubble Gum, you easily see how Kali Bubba gives you all the positive aspects of Bubble Gum’s high, but adds the philosophical, creative Kali Mist high to the mix.

There’s definitely relaxation, pain relief, euphoria, and sensual enhancement in the high, but there’s also deep thinking, psychedelia, and analytical clarity.

The high comes on fast and lasts for hours, with little or no burnout if you’ve avoided combustion effects by using a vaporizer.

This is a very versatile strain. Growers and consumers tell us they’ve used it for lovemaking, athletics, yoga, meditation, clubbing, making music, at parties, theaters, movies and concerts, and for doing creative work such as writing books, movie scripts, and lyrics.

Kali Bubba lacks the lethargy effects of Indicas and Kush, and doesn’t have the mind-only, racing thoughts, near-paranoia effects that some pure Sativas give you. The following testimonial from a professional grower sums up why you should be growing Kali Bubba:

“I’ve grown almost all of the Serious Seeds line, and talked extensively with Simon, the founder of Serious Seeds. I’ve yet to experience a hermie plant from any of his regular or feminized seeds, which is something I can’t say for most other seed breeders.

Simon is the most dedicated, professional, honest, and cannabis-savvy of the original Dutch heritage breeders who created the commercial cannabis industry from the 1970s through the mid-1990s, when The Netherlands was a magnet for cannabis lovers and breeders.

During that era, when Holland was the only place in the world where you could legally buy cannabis and use it in public, Simon and a handful of other cannabis aficionados traveled the world gathering landrace cannabis seeds and breeding them into legendary foundational strains.

Sadly, as the years have gone by, the other Dutch marijuana seeds companies lost their mojo. I’ve stopped buying from all the Dutch companies—except for Serious Seeds.

Now here’s what I really want to focus on. I’ve cherished all the Serious Seeds strains I’ve grown, but Kali Bubba has risen to the top due to its heavy yields, ease of growing, and potent, exquisitely balanced high that gives you an invigorating, functional suite of body and mind effects.

I love how the buds swell up to be big white balls of bud hairs and then comes the resin glands. I’ve never seen buds like these on any other strain.

In a grow room of different strains where all are above average if not incredible, Kali Bubba comes out on top. All my friends love it, and would buy every ounce I grow!”

Here at Serious Seeds, we feel so good when growers give us these reports, and now it’s your turn to get Kali Bubba seeds and bring this innovative combination of two treasured strains into your grow room right now.

Best plant I ive grown possibly!
Got 2 free when I bought Happyness. Both plants uniform in structure but one smells more potent. Not too much stretch and big buds! Will certainly grow again.
