Strain Description

Legendary for its sweet smell and very euphoric effect and winning more than 13 awards in cannabis competitions, Bubble Gum weed has few branches, sometimes grows in height, and bears compact heads covered with crystals. The seedlings produce very similar plants. It is the only pure variety (so not an F1 hybrid) in the Serious range. Bubble Gum grown outdoors in Spain has won numerous awards, including the FIRST PRIZE Outdoor at the Spannabis Champions Cup in December 2005.

Genetics:

Originally, Bubble Gum was developed by growers in Indiana, USA. From there, the genetics moved to New England and finally to the Netherlands. It took many generations to finally produce this stable Bubble Gum.

The only pure variety (not an F1 hybrid) on the Serious Seeds menu.

Taste and Aroma:

Bubble Gum weed is recognizable with its characteristic sweet smell (really resembling a typical chewing gum taste). These aromas linger in the mouth and will satisfy the most delicate palates.

Its Cultivation:

Bubble Gum seeds will delight all amateur/beginner growers as well as the most experienced, thanks to a simple-to-grow genetics! You will be delighted to see long, crystallized trichome buds forming throughout its cultivation.

The stabilized Bubble Gum produces plants with few branches, but which soar during the stretch, be careful in small growing spaces.

It's a strong and beautiful plant that grows a heavy stem, you never need to tie up big buds. The early stages of seedlings can be tender and you need to take a little care at this stage. It's important not to let them be overrun by neighboring plants that can grow faster at the beginning. Once about 2 weeks old, the Bubble Gums will start to pick up speed and grow as fast as other plants. This growth delay can be explained by the fact that BG is an inbred strain and therefore does not have this hybrid vigor effect (faster and stronger growth) of F1 hybrids.

Its effects:

Bubble Gum weed fundamentally has a strong effect on the physique and a very pleasant euphoric side! Its long-lasting relaxing properties make it a good partner to unwind after a good day's work.

In a few numbers:

Flowering period: 53 to 63 days or 8 to 9 weeks

harvest potential: between: 300-450G/M²

In a few words:

Serious Seeds' Bubble Gum is a terpene legend! It will produce shiny and fragrant buds!

The combination of a high THC content and an intoxicating flavor are the original trademarks of this famous strain.

Apart from the Stretch period, there are no difficulties in growing Bubble Gum

Additional Information:

-Bubble Gum seeds grown outdoors in Spain have won numerous awards (13 in total), including the first Outdoor Prize of the Spannabis Champions Cup in December 2005.

-Originally, Bubble Gum weed was developed by growers in Indiana, USA. From there, the genetics moved to New England and finally to the Netherlands.

-Like several of the varieties in the Serious Seeds seed catalog, Bubble Gum is the origin of many crosses.

A bit of history:

There are several varieties in the world of cannabis genetics whose origin and subsequent selection process are not clear. Growers are particularly confused when a certain variety is offered under the same name by two or more seed banks: who has the original, who has the copies? The Bubblegum variety is a controversial variety, with at least two seed banks offering their own versions, in this case: Serious Seeds and T.H. Seeds (both residing in Amsterdam), not to mention all those bad copies. So, we decided to trace the true roots of Bubble Gum.

-The two breeders mentioned above ended up with two corresponding versions of the breeding history of Bubble Gum, giving good reasons for the existence of two high-quality Bubble Gum strains: the original seeds were developed by a grower in Indiana (USA) during the 80s. In 1993, this person gave three very different female Bubble Gum plants to Adam of T.H. but also to Simon and Tony (the two separated shortly after, with Simon founding Serious Seeds and Tony Sagarmatha Seeds) of Cerebral Seeds.

-Bubble Gum therefore arrived in the Netherlands in the hands of three breeders. And from that moment, different new chapters were written in the breeding history of Bubble Gum, its development somehow branched out. Three breeders, three modes of selection: These seed masters were going to make their own special selection from the three different genetic types they had received. Simon reports: “As far as I know, T.H. Seeds worked more with one of these 3 plants than I did”. This is why Adam (the BG from T.H. Seeds will be another story...) considers his Bubble Gum as "mainly indica", while Simon places his version in the "Mostly Sativa" category. He focused his research on two of the three lineages, ultimately deciding on a type that would become his Bubble Gum seed variety.

It took Simon five generations to reach the desired breeding result, then officially registering it under the name "Bubble Gum".

Serious Seeds Bubble Gum – a “seriously” refined classic

Text & Photos: Green Born Identity – G.B.I.

There are several strains out in the world of cannabis genetics whose origin and further breeding process seem to be unclear. Growers get especially confused, when a certain strain is offered under the same name by two or more seed banks: who has the original one, whose are copies? Bubble Gum is such one contentious strain, of which at least two seed banks do offer their own versions, in this case Serious Seeds and T.H. Seeds (both residing in Amsterdam), not to mention all those internet-based criminal copy cats here. So I decided to trace back the real roots of Bubble Gum. Asking both the above-mentioned breeders resulted in two corresponding versions of the Bubble Gum`s breeding story, giving good reasons for the existence of two high-quality Bubble Gum strains: The original material was developed by a grower in Indiana (USA) during the 80ies. In 1993, this guy gave three very different female Bubble Gum plants to Adam from T.H. Sees as well as to Simon and Tony (the two splitted up shortly after, with Simon founding Serious Seeds and Tony Sagarmatha Seeds) from Cerebral Seeds. So Bubble Gum arrived in the Netherlands in the hands of three breeders. And from that moment on, different new chapters were written in the breeding history of Bubble Gum, its development kind of branched out. Three breeders – three ways of breeding: These seed meisters were going to make their own special selection out of the three different genetic types they had received. Simon reports: “As far as I know, T.H. Seeds did work further with another of those 3 plants than I did”. That`s the reason why Adam (T.H. Seeds` BG will be another story…) considers his Bubble Gum as “mostly indica”, whereas Simon puts his version into the “Mostly Sativa” category. He focused his research on two of the three lines, finally deciding for one type that should become his Bubble Gum seed strain. It took Simon five generations to end up in the desired breeding result, officially registering it then as “Bubble Gum”. He says that it is not possible to give exact sativa/indica percentages, but reveals that the genetic background of Bubble Gum consists of three different exotic sativas, amongst them Mexican and Columbian, and an Afghani indica. It is remarkable that Bubble Gum is the only inbred strain (no F1 hybrid) in the Serious menu, thus being especially uniform. Upon being asked about special considerations to Bubble Gum, Simon explained: “The bubble gum shows a remarkable uniformity in plants grown from seeds. It is a strong and beautiful plant which grows a heavy stem, you never need to tie heavy buds up. The initial stages of seedlings can be tender, and you have to take care a bit for them in that stage. It is important to not let them be overgrown by neighbouring plants which may grow faster at first. Once when about 2 weeks old, the Bubble Gums will start to pick up speed and grow as fast as other plants.” This delay in growth can be explained by the fact that the BG is an inbred strain and therefore does not have that hybrid vigour effect (faster and stronger growth) of F1 hybrids.

Keeping these hints in mind, I sow four BG seeds - only four seeds, due to the chronic congestion on my seed testing list. They really showed off the ground one day later than common, but germinated properly and simultaneously. And in fact, the overall growth speed was slow at first, but increased significantly after two weeks. When the multiple-finger leafs had been formed, their look was quite unsual: dark green in the colour (indica trait), but at the same time rather narrow and sharply serrated (sativa traits). After five weeks from germination, they had grown into medium tall plants (55-65 cm) under HPS 400 + 250 W, with few side-branching. But due to the dominating sativa content, it was clear that they would further stretch during flowering. Two plants turned out to be female and soon developed the first flower clusters after having turned the lights to 12/12. And one could quickly realize that huge top colas were about to be produced by the plants. After four weeks of flowering, the buds began to release a sweet fruity scent that was going to become more intensive from week to week, really reminding of fruity chewing gum. Also resin production had gotten into full speed, conquering more and more of the plants` surface. The buds grew into very compact resinous heads, featuring a high calyx-to-leaf ratio, thus allowing for easy harvest processing. After 58 resp. 61 days of flowering, harvest was not only easy, but also rewarding, as the two BG plants yielded 25 resp. 28 grams of finest sticky sinsemilla. As expected, they had kept on growing vertically during flowering, finally amounting to 91 resp. 102 cm. But this contributed to the formation of long-drawn, heavy yielding main colas.

The buds were pleasantly mild to smoke and had preserved some of that special fruitiness also after the drying process. No surprise that the high delivered a pretty strong sativa power dosage, with euphoric tendencies, at least it will make you blow some funny fantasy bubbles in your mind. The indica aspect, however, is also noticeable, causing a certain degree of stonedness, too. This nice mixture of both sides of the spectrum makes Serious Seeds` Bubble Gum an attractive experience, and accordingly, it has won several awards, e.g. at the High Times Cannabis Cup 1994, 1995 and 1999. It may be new to some that Bubble Gum is also a good choice for outdoor cultivation. While rather taking place on the balcony in Holland, it is also successfully practised in the great Spanish outdoors, as Simon reports:

“Bubble Gum is also liked for outdoors in Spain a lot, it will also form a very nice plant with moult resistence buds when grown outdoors here but just finishes not soon enough for my standards to call it an outdoor plant. Normal finishing date 1-15 oct.” On the whole, Serious Seeds` Bubble Gum is a very worthwhile strain to grow – indeed a “seriously” refined classic. 63 Euros for 10 seeds are certainly a good investment.

Bubble Gum Bubble Gum in a pot...

My first time growing the bubble gum strain for a second year grower was good but not great. The reason for me saying that is I believe the plant grew it is self and with all my beginner mistakes, it made it to harvest. With the periodic soil pH issues, I feel it didn it allow the plant to max out it is full potential. However going through the erratic soil pH issue along with the HST/LST, the plant still grew and flowered some decent buds. From what I can remember the smell was lovely and the smoke quality was good however the yield we not where I wanted. Dealing with the growing pains of growing cannabis and learning from the mistakes I ive made in my prior harvest I im definitely looking forward to growing this strain next harvest as I believe there is so much more I can get out of this strain. With that said, stay growing my friend. Never give up. Peace and love from FlowerMan.

100% germination Serious stuff here...

I have been a customer of serious seeds for a long time. Home grower. I have purchased Queen Kali Mist( My favourite high wife says it is good for PMS), AK-47 (Most potent I have grown I think), Double Dutch( first seed I bought from serious seeds in 2004 give or take with the biggest buds I have ever grown. Fatter than my wifes head, grown in a tent, and the nicest terp profile one could ask for) , White Russian Excellent ), Motivation (1st time drying now) Seriosa( Very nice potent sativa hybrid ), Seriotica (Heavy hitter ID, most Trichs on a plant I have ever grown. Smokes like hash.), Bubble gum ( first time, just flipped), Chronic, Serious Happiness ( as advertised), and Strawberry AK.

All seeds but one germinated, and it was my fault for letting the soil dry out. I do help them by removing helmuts and wetting and removing the skin that dries out and prevents the wings spreading. I had serious seeds properly stored in the fridge for at least 7 years, and when I planted six, six grew into beautiful girls. They travelled from NL, to FInland, to Canada.

I use seeds and do not clone because I like the challenge of growing different genotypes in the same grow. I like the challenge and the choice when thinking of vaping some med. Most importantly, I think it is important to support the talent that creates these beautiful and healthy plants for us to grow.

My first and only choice is Serious seeds.

PURE F1 INCREDIBLE TERPS

I was looking for the real/true Bubblegum "Indiana cut" so I bought a pack from Serious seeds.
Got 10 females out of the 11 so it was easy to select my male, in terms of pheno hunt this strain is extremely stable so you can expect an incredible strawberry smell and taste in each and every one, though of course some will be more potent/tasty of course.
I was really surprised by the potency of this Sativa strain and but the gold is in its terpenes which will never fail to amaze you.
Great strain for breeding too, strong branches, fast flowering, nice amount of trichomes and really easy to clone.

Serious Seeds One of the Last Great Seed Companies

This Bubble Gum tastes and smells like the coffee shop strain from all those years ago in marvelous Amsterdam, but is even better because it is stronger, and yields are higher. In general, Serious Seeds only sells the best genetics. Look at the cannabis grower magazine called Growing Marijuana Perfectly dot com (online) to see reviews of Bubble Gum, Kali Mist and other great strains from one of the last great seed companies.
