Description

Fruity Durban is mostly sativa and is highly resistant against mildew and fungus. This variety is great for indoor under lights, as well as for outdoor under the sun. She has the shortest flowering time of all plants we know. She is a cross between an African 'Durban Poison' and a selected 'Mimosa'.

Indoor

Fruity Durban is a true F1 hybrid with a lot of grow vigor. They want to grow and develop fast. Pistils can be seen soon after setting the clock to 12/12 (which is the moment when the flowering cycle starts). Other plants usually show their first pistils around 2 weeks after the start of flowering. But Fruity Durban already has small buds by then.

The buds grow together into long, cat-tail-like shaped buds(but then thicker/wider). Only flowers, with very few leaves. She also develops cloudy/milky trichomes very soon, and because of this she seems ready around 35 days. But we advise to wait a bit longer with the harvest, buds will grow denser and gain weight.

Notice how the scent of the buds change over time. When you recognize a fruity, lemony or mandarin scent, it may be a good idea to harvest 1 or 2 buds right at that moment. Harvesting buds at different moments gives you the possibility to get to know the plant better. Stick a little note at the stem of each bud with the harvest date. Later you can then choose which scent and effect you like best. Then you know for the next time how long you prefer to let her flower.

After 6 weeks of flower time the calyxes have swollen to their max, the plants are ripe and should not be cut later. Fruity Durban will put on more weight the later you harvest, but you may like the scent better when harvested earlier than 6 weeks. Earlier harvested buds show more the fruity 'Mimosa' scents. In later harvested plants the Durban scent will become more dominant.

Fruity Durban has a lot of trichomes which are easy to collect. She is a great washer.

Outdoor

Seeds for outdoor should not be started before April 15th. Early germinated seeds can grow into big plants which may need more attention and work. They could grow too tall and then they may need to be tied down to control and lower them. Finally, such big plants will have more bud weight compared to plants from seeds which were started later. That usually is the reason to start the seeds that early. But looking at the bud/branch ratio of earlier started seeds, they will have a lot more branch over bud. Compared to plants from seeds which started later.

Seeds germinated around the first of June will grow easily into plants of over 2 to 2,5 meters tall without much help. Tying each plant to a tall stick however is a minimum, no more work is required. After the first pistils show, the buds develop fast. Harvest when all, or most, of the white pistils have turned into an orange/brown color.

Most Fruity Durban plants and buds remain green till the end. But some plants start to show darkish purple colors in leaves and buds, when harvest time is close. This probably comes from the influence of low temperatures at night. Buds from Fruity Durbans grown outside are more leafy than indoors. But outdoor the buds have a similar thick layer of trichomes, which is great for collecting or washing.

You will not be disappointed to choose this elegant lady into your garden.
